To give you a general idea of the area of the where the rugs came from, I am showing the cover of an Arizona Highways and the book Rugs and Post by H. L. James discussing Navajo Weaving, trading and the areas. There are several good books on Rugs and Trading Posts you may want to look at if you consider collecting genuine hand made Navajo Rugs made in Navajo land by the Navajo people.
We guarantee all the rugs. There is a three day inspectrion period if the purchaser is not satisfied just send the rug back, no questions asked on our part. We refund your funds, including the shipping charges you paid us to send the item to you. You pay the return shipping.
Not all of our rugs on our site came from this purchase. However, we give the same guarantee on all our rugs. Items in the range of BE111 to BE144 were in the late 2005 purchasing event. Most of the other rugs came from an Auction held in Southeast Kansas where an old time collector of Native American Items was selling off his collection.
When viewing the pictures of some rugs on an occasion you may see a fold mark. That indicates that recently it was stored in a folded position. I have been told that when a rug is not is use and is in a stored postion and it cannot be layed out flat it should be kept in a rolled position to avoid those creases. They will come out but its better not to get them in the first place. Below are photos of some of our rug collection and how they are stored. Some of the smaller ones are stored laying flat and unfolded/unrolled..

BE142NAVAJO AREA RUG This rug is retangular and measures 60 x 89-1/2 inches. This is old rug from 1900 to 1920. It is the Whirling Log pattern which went out of vogue prior to World War II because it looked a lot like the German Swastka. This rug has a old large area repair, several holes, and a major stain visible from one side. Too bad as this would be a major find in very good to excellent condidion. Take a look at the damage and stain in every image. It is a Ganada style. It will be sold as is. PRICE: $1600Picture

BE099-CHICHIMECA PICTORIAL RUGThis is a very attractive Pictorial Rug. The rug measures 54 x 86 inches and was so long that the full length pictures shown below have part of the rug laying on the floor. The rug appears to be 40 to 50 years old and still has the sales tag. The tag shows an Indian woman weaving. The tag states that "Chichimeca Indian rugs and saddle blankets are the highest type of American Native Craftsmanship. The methods of weaving have been unchanged for centuries". The tag goes on to state the process of taking the wool from the sheep,-----. I did not know the reference to Chichimeca. I went to my trusty computer and found that that refers to a group within the area of what some writers refer to as Mesoamerica and it refers to a history dating back 3500 B.C. Intersting reading about the history of what is referred to as Mesoamerica and the migration of populations pre Spanish and post Spanish. Apparenty many of the Chichimeca reside in the current Mexican State of Zacatecas and among other things are involved in the crafts. This rug is well made and may be an example of what H.L. James refers to in his book "Rugs and Post" when he indicates that: excellent Mexican creations (not all Mexican creations are excellent-my comment) and are sometimes misrepresented as Navajo. When briefly reading the history of "Mesoamerica", migration patterns Pre and Post Spanish, and the close proximity of Northern Mexico to Navajo country, it is understandable that the creations may at times be similar and it takes an expert to tell the difference. That may be why James indicates the buyer should exercise caution. This rug is well made but there is no questiion with this one. It has an old tag referring to the Chichimeca makers. it is not Navajo. It is a very attractive piece. PRICE: $1275Picture
